Scripture: Luke 1:57-79
Speaker: Jeff Hill
I was in my teens. My three brother’s families were growing exponentially. Mom and Dad’s small bungalow home was usually a quiet and roomy sanctuary UNTIL… Six adults with packages and two kids each in tow seemed to fill every space with either a body or exuberant sequels of joy as little eyes brightened at first sight to see packages spilling out from under the tree to fill nearly half the walking space in this small living room. What was the price tag associated with this festival and subsequent feast? I don’t think anyone calculated or cared. It was a snapshot in time. We were all together. Events in years to come would not afford such repeated regalia. Like everything in life, we embrace these moments and know they will fade to memories.
In this lesson we will take a moment to explore the cost that brought Jesus to us so that we can celebrate now, in part, the promised festival and feast when Father, Son and Spirit make all that has gone wrong right again. The glory will not fade. The joy will be everlasting in the presence of pure love, for eternity.
Chronological Story of Jesus’ Arrival: Lk 1:5-80; Mt 1:18-25; Lk 2:1-38; Mt 2:1-23; Lk 2:39-52
