WHO WE ARE

The Southside Church of Christ is a “Family of God, Rooted in Scripture, Loving God and Others”. We are a Christ centered church established in 1958 and currently have approximately 150 members. Learn more about our history.

What We Believe

We believe there is one God, the creator of everything in heaven and earth, that He is the authority over all He created and that He desires both loyalty and love from all people. He is without change, just, holy, all-knowing, all-present, all-powerful, the supreme judge over all; yet full of mercy and compassion.

Jesus is God’s Son, born of a virgin, is without sin, and gave his life on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe He rose bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven and will visibly return to earth one day to judge the world and establish His kingdom.

The Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, to make people conscious of sin and righteousness so as to bring people new life in Christ. He is our counselor, comforter and guide in all matters of our lives, bestowing upon each believer gifts for service.

The Bible is God’s true Word, written by men who were divinely inspired to communicate flawlessly His message to humanity in all matters of faith and conduct.

Baptism is our personal obedient response to accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior.  As believers, for Christ’s blood to remove our sins, we must repent of our sin and be baptized.  As we are saved from our sins, the Lord adds us to His body, the church.

The “Church” is the “Body of Christ” on earth made up of all who put their faith in Christ alone as their Savior, making us a family of believers. We share each other’s lives in joy, burden, support, and respect. We seek to reach others with Christ’s love. We are united in our core beliefs and values, which identify who we are.

We believe that we are Just Christians, non-denominational, belonging to Christ’s church.  Learn More…

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.

Acts 2:38

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.

Matthew 28:19

“Ascribe to the LORD, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.”

Psalms 29:1-2

Our Corporate Worship Service In Person,
Following all CDC Guidelines

We are also streaming our worship online.  Join us on Facebook on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

Watch recorded Worship Services or Classes anytime on Facebook or YouTube.

Our goal for each worship service is to bring glory to God in a corporate setting. We do this through singing acapella hymns and songs, praying and reading from the Bible.  The focal point of our service, however, is communing with one another during the Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate every Sunday.  All of this is in the same theme as our minister’s message for the day.  The children, ages 3 years to 3rd grade, leave for children’s worship just prior to the minister’s message and finish at the same time as adult worship.

In addition to these, a financial offering is collected. It is not mandatory to give. Rather, God wants us to give from the heart.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.   2 Corinthians 9:7

Announcements, such as prayer requests, event happenings and anniversary celebrations are given at the end of our worship.

Our History

Southside Church has it’s roots in the American Restoration Movement.  It began in 1958, with a group of 5 families from the 35th & Cherry Church of Christ.  This group was sent out to start a new church on the south side of Milwaukee.  They included Monroe & Julia Hawley, with Monroe preaching for the new church & Julia working alongside.
