Sunday Hand Out Information 08-07-22

If you bring cookies or treats Sunday morning, please label any likely allergens (usually peanuts or nuts) and show them to Dorothy BEFORE putting them out.

Please pick up a communion pack when coming into the auditorium if you will be joining with the Lord’s Supper.

Today is First Sunday First Fruits.  Tables are set up in room 4.

Sunday morning Class and Worship is now held in-person as well as live-streamed.  You are welcome to join us!  Masks are optional everywhere except in the fellowship room during worship time.  Of course, if you are ill or have had recent contact with someone who is ill, please stay home.  There is no evening worship at this time.

Today, about 5 minutes after the worship, we are planning 15 minutes of prayer in the fellowship room for Southside.

Jeff Valodine is planning to start a weekly men’s study and fellowship group at his downtown home (901 W. Winnebago Street Milwaukee) on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8.  See Jeff or call/text 262-825-6919 for details.

Special Events

The next Red Cross blood drive planned at Southside is scheduled for Friday August 26 from noon to 5.  Please see Latanja Mudd or Wayne Alexander for details.

The Hampton Avenue ladies are planning a Ladies Retreat for September 16 to 18 in Green Lake.  $100 deposit is due August 30 if you wish to attend.

An outing to the Fireside Dinner Theatre is planned for Saturday December 10.  Cost for dinner and live show is $77.25 which is due by October 30.  The show is White ChristmasSign-up is required.

The Annual Midwest Preachers Retreat will be at Fallhall Glen, Sept. 26-28.

Opportunities

The Bowmans welcomed baby Ryland into their family and meals are being set up over the next few weeks to help them out.

The Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team, (9285 S. State Route 202, Tipp City, Ohio 45371) is responding to the flooding in Kentucky.  Help is needed.

If you have printer cartridges to recycle, a box has been placed where you can put them and support Schultz Lewis Child and Family Services at the same time.  Funds are also being raised from “Box Top$ for Education” products when purchased and you scan your receipt with your smart phone using the Box Tops mobile app.

Regular Events

Mid-week study at the building, Wednesday, 7 pm, on the gospel of John.  A Zoom virtual meeting is also available.

The Thursday morning Ladies Bible Class, which meets each week at 10 am in the fellowship hall is on break for the summer. See Peggy Koch or Allison Morrill for details.

Color More Worry Less” is planned Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship room. Please see Christine Saunders for details.

Second Tuesday Hour of  Prayer meeting – August 9 at 7 pm

The Christian Workers’ Meeting is planned for the third Tuesday of each month, 9:30 a.m. October through May. Next meeting is October 18.

First Tuesday Men’s Fellowship and Bible Study group  meets each month September through June. Next meeting:  September 6.

A 15 minute prayer meeting is held on the first Sunday of the month in the Fellowship Room 5 minutes after worship. September 4.

Marie Coffey invites those with a Facebook account to join a Virtual Bible study of the book of Hebrews on Tuesdays at 7 pm.  Send a Facebook friend request to Marie and message that you want to join.

There’s a special group of people here at Southside that are ages 55 and older, called Club 55.  They hold fellowship events, things for other age groups, and service projects that reach out to Milwaukee and beyond.  See the Club 55 bulletin board for more information, or contact Linda Stanger at (414) 282-5991 for more information.

The Southside Worship Advisory Group (SWAG) would like input from both online and in-person worshipers, especially through the online Connection Card survey questions.  Please take the time to provide your input.

Reminders

When planning events, don’t forget to check the calendar in the back hallway by room 9 for conflicts and enter your own events.  This is for events that involve use of the building and/or for a majority of the congregation.
