Our final sermon on 1 Timothy is this Sunday. I hope that you’ve benefited from our time in this book.
Paul in this last section contrasts the present age with the age to come, reminding us that our treasure, whether we have an abundance of material possessions or not, comes from knowing and being known by God. And if God is what we hunger for, it frees us from being enslaved to possessions and allows us to use our resources to serve Him and others. Jesus said: Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” In light of this verse, Jesus might ask each of us, Which age (the present or the future) are you storing up treasure for?
