2 Tim. 1:9-10
Perhaps you’ve heard the of the term Apologetics, which entails providing a defense of the Christian faith. Apologists—those engaged in the task of apologetics—often responded to erroneous views of the Christian faith by correcting error and explaining the truth. In 2 Tim. 1:9-12, Paul succinctly unpacks the gospel which Timothy is to defend, but Timothy is not to guard it on his own. He has the dynamite power of the Holy Spirit living in him. And so do we!
PS – One of the earliest Christian apologies was written by Justin Martyr around the mid-second century. ‘Martyr” is not Justin’s last name but rather an indication that Justin was killed for his Christian beliefs; he’s a martyr!
