Good News for Guiltaholics – May 15, 2022

Psalm 32:1-7

Guilt: An internal feeling that we’ve committed wrong, often (but not always) made known to us by our conscience.

Many Christians live with a gnawing sense of guilt, and it continues to remain unresolved, deep within them, although others may not know it. Hear these words from Psalm 32:5: “Then I acknowledged my sins to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”

Guilt is good insofar as it makes us aware that we’ve broken a standard and our ongoing need for God. It becomes bad only when we refuse to bring it to the One who can remove it and transform our hearts. If you’ve ever despaired about your spiritual condition, this sermon will, I hope, be meaningful to you.
