The Anatomy of Godly Leadership (part 1) – the Overseer January 16, 2022

1 Timothy 3:1-7

The sermon, taken from 1 Tim. 3:1-7, discusses qualifications for bishops (some translations have “overseer”). There are at least 3 other terms the New Testament uses to refer to bishops (see Acts 20:17-35 and Titus 2:7). There are approximately 15 characteristics that identify worthy candidates for this leadership position in 1 Tim. 3:1-7. Feel free to review these, do some self-examination (how well do you meet the qualifications? What areas in your life need some work?)

Questions to consider: Why does the church need bishops? What’s enjoyable about being a bishop? What is especially challenging? What positive feedback do you have for our two bishops, Ken Koch and Troy Jensen? Feel free to contact Patrick if you have thoughts you wish to share.

PS – Why do you think Paul shifts to discussing bishops after 1 Tim. 2:11-15?
