This Sunday, I’ll treat 1 Tim. 3:14-16, where Paul indicates his plans to visit Timothy (v. 14), provides a rationale for everything he’s said in 1 Tim. 2:1-3:13 (v. 15), and unpacks the awe-inducing “mystery” of the Christian faith (v. 16).
Worth reflecting on: what should one’s attitude to the church be, in light of who it belongs to? What makes the church the pillar and bulwark of truth? How is verse 16 functioning in the context, and what does “vindicated in spirit” refer to?
