I Timothy 2:8-10
This Sunday, the day after the world celebrates the entrance of Christ into the world, we’ll continue celebrating by considering how our lives can be decorated to please God in two important areas: prayer and dress. A challenge: consider the following verses from the same context. Are they both cultural? Are they both binding in our context today? Is one cultural and the other binding? Why?
1 Tim 2:9 – Paul does not want women to wear “braided hair…gold or pearls or costly garments.” (Cultural or still binding? Why?)
1 Tim 2:12 – Paul says, “I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.” (Cultural or still binding? Why?)
