James 2:1-26
“No better no worse” and “by your fruit…”. Humans often struggle with their place in community. Many over exaggerate while many others under estimate due to earthly wisdom.
James exposes the thin veneer of materialism most use to indicate a person’s worth as worthless from a spiritual wisdom perspective. That which is ultimately valuable is indicated by fruits of faith. A dying tree decorated with lifeless tinsel, lights and ornaments may be valuable for a week at Christmas, but a tree that does not produce fruit is already dead and ultimately purposeless.
Is your life covered with lifeless decorations that mask a dying tree or a deeply rooted and well watered tree that produces fruit that offers blessing to others?
