We want to see the whole thing, understand the whole thing and predict the whole thing to control the whole thing. Lain Provan states, “We are a people given to prediction and prediction implies control.”
God has revealed how it all ends and that decision was out of your control but entirely for your benefit. So, what makes you so anxious that you still feel the need to control? Don’t you realize the inverse relationship? In grasping for control you are releasing contentment. When we release contentment joy goes with it. In what ways are the things you are trying to control exposing the idols in your life? Idols that you believe by obtaining and controlling them you will be safe and satisfied. In what ways are you trying to control God making him just another idol to manipulate in trying to produce your perspective of “the good life”.
God knows what makes life good. Will you trust and align to his perspective even when life is not so good as you define it?
