Scripture: Joshua 24:14-28

Speaker:  Jeff Hill

Tension: have you felt any lately?  Life is filled with tensions we wish to resolve in order to experience peace.  Movies use tension to create suspense, increase drama or to force characters to make a choice which determines a path heading forward in life.

Making a choice may result in the creation of other tension that we might just need to learn to endure. As you read Joshua chapters 23 and 24, take special notice the tensions presented to the nation of Israel as Joshua faces the end of his life.  We often don’t like to choose and then be responsible for the consequence.  Neil Peart from the Canadian band Rush wrote a song “Freewill” stating, “If you choose not to decide, You still have made a choice”.  The Apostle Paul states in Romans 6 that we will choose to serve something.  What are you choosing to serve?  Is there any proof you have made that choice?
