Scripture: John 3:1-36
Speaker: Jeff Hill
Why is it so easy to think that God’s first instinct is harm and control rather than to love and bless? Could it be that the plethora of negative consequences we read in scripture indicates more about human nature than God’s nature? Israel, due to rebellion, finds itself deported to Babylon. Jeremiah informs them that in spite of false reports, they will be there for a while so get comfortable. Jeremiah reveals in 29:11-14 that God has a plan to prosper and bless them and when they turn to Him with their heart He will bring them back. It appears that humanity is “snake bit”. Isn’t it because the serpent charms our flesh that incites resistance to God who’s ultimate goal is bless. Our nature is what needs to change, not God’s response to our resistance. Thanks be to God that He always provides a remedy to our resistance.
