Today

We are collecting nonperishable food items for the First Sunday First Fruits program.  The food will be shared with those in need.  Please see Danny Giombi or Jeff Hill for details.

The Hampton Avenue Church of Christ is holding a “Young Adult Day” today. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Evening worship is planned for 6:00 p.m. today.

Mid-week group meetings are planned in several locations:

Special Events

Hampton Ave. Church of Christ (5705 W. Hampton Ave) is planning A Ladies Day program, “Know your Worth”, based on Proverbs 31:106. It is planned for Saturday September 8.

Club 55 is sponsoring an Edelweiss Boat Cruise Saturday, August 11. A one hour and 20 minute “Historic Milwaukee Tour” aboard the Edelweiss beginning at 11 am. $20 per person. Payment must be in to Linda Stanger by Wednesday, July 18th in order to secure your reservation. Open to everyone.

The Area-wide Churches of Christ Picnic is scheduled for Saturday August 11 from 11 am – 3 pm at Kletchz Park – area 5.

Lakeview Church of Christ (3224 Wright Ave., Racine) is planning a Ladies Day Program for Saturday, September 22.  The theme is: Developing a Christian Life.

Christmas at The Fireside Theatre is planned for December 8.  Cost is $68.95 each and includes a meal.  Please see Sandie Copass for details.

Regular Events

A time of prayer is planned for the second Tuesday of each month at the building, 7:00 p.m.

A 6:00 a.m. Tuesday early morning Weekly Men’s Study is scheduled at the Church building.  The book of Isaiah is being started.

Creative adult coloring, Bible journaling, and card making is planned Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.  Please see Christine Saunders for details.

Opportunities

An organization in the greater Milwaukee is collecting feminine hygiene products for women in area homeless shelters.  A donation box is in the foyer.

Help is needed with leading Children’s Worship.  The worship includes singing, prayer, lesson, and application via various games and simple crafts.  Each worship is co-lead by a team of 2 adults.  If you would like to help with this serving opportunity or learn more about it, please contact Kevin Morrill.

Club 55 is collecting funds for Sole for Jesus. Please see Linda Stanger to make a donation.

Information

We have an attended nursery for small children during morning worship periods in room 2.  We also have a training room at the rear of the auditorium where parents can stay with their little ones while worshipping.

A children’s worship is scheduled to begin near the start of the worship lesson time.  Children’s Worship is intended to provide a time of worship for children age 3 thru Grade 3 and to encourage families with children.

Free CD’s of the Sunday morning sermons are available from Joel Ribar.  Be sure to specify the date desired.  MP3 copies of sermons are also available at the church web site.

The Library is open after classes and the worship period.  Don’t forget to return any overdue books to the library.  There is a book return box located in the entry way next to the picture board.

Library Book Review

Prayer is a vital part of the Christian walk.  We have a section on Prayer in the library.  “How to Pray-the Best of John Wesley on Prayer,” is a short book that shares tidbits of his many writings and shows his heart for prayer, inspiring us.  In “Prayer – Does It Make Any Difference?” Philip Yancey explores the intimate place where God and humans meet, tackling the tough questions and giving a fresh new approach to prayer.

Prayer Requests

Mark VanHandel had a medical procedure and is resting at Froedert. Please, no visitors at this time. Please keep Mark and his family in your prayers.

Gregg Steevens has complications following a medical procedure. Prayers for healing and strength are appreciated.

Prayers for the Ondrejka family (former members) in the death of  Sandy’s husband, Bob.

Prayers for the summer camp sessions at WCYC.  May God be part of each and every event and may the children leave with a renewed love for God.

Please keep Jim & Lori Nichols family and Jim’s brothers in prayer for the loss of their mother, Alice.

Juanita Hernandez asks us to keep her grand daughter Bella in our prayers for her safety.

Jeff Valodine will be having hip replacement surgery soon.

Marie Coffey is grateful to those who have been praying for her marriage. “It is comforting to know someone cares and shows their love to us.”

Patty Schultz asks us to pray for her brother Tom Kennedy who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Allison Morrill asks that we pray for families with kids to come to church, for the furtherance of the next generation.

Maria Guerra says, “thank you” for prayers for healing after her surgery.  She asks for continued prayers as she heals and goes through physical therapy.

Remember also, all our youth and those who are graduating: Max Mikert, Zach Baas, Ta’Erica Jones, Maddie Plale, Chloe Hoze and Ulysses Woodard.

Please keep Leonard Ditsworth in your prayers.  He really misses being here, but his hearing is mostly gone. His heart is here with us.
