Camp News
- The first two-week session (middle camp) of the Wisconsin Christian

to attend. So far as we can determine the following young people plan to
attend: Taylor Williams, Haley Shilts, Dylan Ribar, Rebecca Dickson
Mitchell Orlovsky, Rachel Orlovsky, Brandon Vugrnick, Emily Kleppin and

This year the camp session order has been changed. Following middle camp
at two-week intervals will be the intermediate, senior, and junior
sessions in that order. To learn more about the camp you can get
necessary details at www .wcyc.org.
If
you would like to contribute the Southside scholarship fund, see Wayne

Confusing
Religious Terms
The average person
is often confused by popular terms that are used to describe religious
movements. This will be an effort to clarify these terms, but because
personal views within each group can vary widely, it will necessarily be
inexact.
Liberals.
This word has many connotations, depending on the subject and the view
of the user. In the religious world it is used to describe those who
deny the divine inspiration of the Bible, the miracles of the Bible, and
among some, the deity of Christ. Liberals often disagree among
themselves.
Fundamentalists.
This applies to some who embrace a brand of religious conservatism that
accepts the verbal inspiration of the Bible, dispensationalism, and
pre-millennialism. They are seen by some of orthodox convictions as
being antiintellectual, and often belligerent, which they would deny.
Evangelicals.
These are religious conservatives who accept the divine inspiration of
the Bible, but are less rigid in their doctrinal views. The term
embraces a wide spectrum of perspectives, with some evangelicals being
Calvinistic and some pre-millennial. Many evangelicals accept the faith
only viewpoint. They generally differ from fundamentalists in their
attitudes. Most in the conservative religious world are evangelicals.
Pentecostals.
These people lay great stress on the spiritual gifts described in the
New Testament, especially speaking in tongues. Their faith is highly
subjective, emphasizing feelings more than biblical teachings. They are
highly evangelistic. The Assemblies of God is the largest American
Pentecostal body.
Charismatics.
The charismatic movement began fifty years ago and shares many of the
Pentecostal views. They are concerned with spiritual renewal and
emphasize spiritual gifts, especially tongue speaking. They are found in
many Catholic and Protestant bodies that do not generally endorse their
points of view.
