ESTHER GRAY

Esther Gray, a member of Southside and wife of Al Gray, one of our elders, died at the age of 79 on Sunday afternoon, September 24th. She had been stricken and hospitalized the previous Thursday. The Grays were longtime members of the Waukesha Church prior to coming to Southside where A1 also served as an elder. Esther was deeply loved by all who knew her and she especially loved the children. She was hostess to the midweek study group that has met in their home for several years. The funeral was at Southside Thursday of last week with Monroe Hawley speaking and a group of our members singing. That the church building was filled to capacity is a tribute to the esteem in which others held her. Burial was in Wisconsin Memorial Park. Let us remember the Gray family, and especially Al, in our prayers.

Congregational Give-Away - Our annual "Give-Away" will be next Saturday, October 14th, at 9:00 a.m. For those of you unacquainted with the Give-Away, each year our members and friends donate items that are assembled in a giant "rummage sale" except that nothing is sold and anyone can take any of the thousands of items that are brought. It is open to everyone and hundreds of community people will come to share what is offered. Next week our members, mostly ladies, will spend hundreds of hours in sorting items in preparation for the Give-Away. Denise Eppler is directing the program. A sign-up sheet for those helping is on the bulletin board.

Combined Worship and Congregational Meeting - On Sunday, October 15th, we will have a single morning worship service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no service at 8:30 a.m. Bible classes will begin at 9:30 o'clock. There will be a sandwich lunch after worship followed by a congregational meeting at about i:00 p.m. There will be no evening worship that day because of the congregational meeting.

Study Group Change - Because of the moving of the Windells, the Wednesday study group that has been meeting in their home will now meet at 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays in the home Brian and Tara Frost. The study group that has been meeting in the Dennis Saunders home in Rochester will merge with the relocated group at the Frosts.

We extend our sympathy to Mercedes Sebestyen, former Southside member now living in Rhinelander, in the recent death of her husband, Steve. The Sebestyens had been married over sixty years.

We welcome Shirley Arnott, who recently moved here from Ohio, who wishes to be a part of our Southside family. Contact us for her new address.

Address Changes - Michael and Julie Shuster,.... Nathalie and Gene Campbell, .... and Mercedes Sebestyen. Contact us for their new address
