The Bulletin Board

Baptized - Arielle Hanyard was baptized during the first week of August at the senior session of the Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp .... Ian Ribar was baptized by his father Joel at the beginning of the second worship last Sunday ..... We pray that God will bless these young people in their walk with Jesus.

Remember the Milwaukee area inter-congregational picnic this Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Kletzsch Park. Plan to attend if you can. Conflicting activities will keep some that usually go from participating so we need those who are able to attend if possible.

The Sick - Esther Gray is doing well following her surgery last week.... Carolyn Buettner had successful eye surgery last week which has partially restored sight in one of her eyes. We rejoice with her.... Pearl Molla was hospitalized for several days with an intestinal blockage, but is now home.

Ladies' Retreat - "Recognizing the Enemy" is the theme of our Ladies' Retreat September 8 & 9 at the Sienna Center in Racine. Becki Kidd will be the speaker. The cost is $45.00 for those attending Friday and Saturday or $18.00 for those taking part in Saturday's events only. Reservations need to be in by August 23rd. Rejoice In the Lord!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4)

Have you ever read a book of the Bible to see what it says about a given subject? When I read Ephesians to see what Paul had to say about Christ, I was astonished at what I found.

Read Philippians to see what Paul says about joy. It is filled with rejoicing. "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now" (1:4,5). "I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should he glad and rejoice with me" (2: 17,18). "Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord!" (3:1). 'Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!" (4:1).

Your reaction to Paul's overflowing joy may be, "Well, if Paul had to put up with what I do, he wouldn't talk so much about joy." On the contrary, Paul penned this short letter while he was in prison in chains (1:13,17). It's hard to be in a worse predicament than that. Our lives should be filled with joy. They can be if we will take Paul's advice. Monroe Hawley
