Special
Contribution Sunday
We are all aware of
the tremendous personal suffering and loss resulting from Hurricane Katrina
last week. Some of our family members and friends have been directly
affected by losing everything, even if they did not sustain injury.
Therefore, our entire contribution this Sunday will be used for the relief
of the hurricane victims. We urge each one to give generously. Those who are
unable to be present Sunday can mail their donations to the church and they
will be included in the amount. Most of the funds will be sent to "The
Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund" operated by brethren in Nashville,
TN. This is a program that has been in place for a number of years to
address disasters like the recent hurricane and it is set up to use the
funds in the most effective way. We must remember that we are not just
dealing with individual suffering, but each person or family has needs to be
met. Churches in cities in closer proximity to the Gulf Coast such as
Memphis are dealing on a daily basis with the relocation of specific
families who have lost everything. As this is written we are in the process
of helping one hospitalized woman in coming to Milwaukee to live with her
daughter. In whatever way we can help these hurting people, let us do our
best.
The Bulletin Board

blessings on him.

beginning of the new adult classes that will continue to the end of the
year. These classes will be "First and Second Peter" taught by Rodney
Windell, and a men's class entitled "Promises to be a Godly Man" co-taught
by Wayne Alexander and Bruce Williams.

People Are So
Touchy
"All I said was that if
I had a voice like hers I'd keep my mouth shut during the song service. Haw
was I to know that was her best friend sitting in front of me? Some best
friend, repeating gossip like that!
I never have understood
the hyper-sensitivity of some people. Like that fat lady I met last Sunday.
All I said was, "Have you tried weight-watchers?" If I was overweight I
would want to know!
Or take that mother
with the baby who cried during the sermon. All I did was give the mother a
stern look. Some kind of Christian she was. Hasn't been back to church
since. Talk about thin-skinned people!
Never did figure out
why my child's Bible school teacher quit teaching. I know it had nothing to
do with the time I told her she should be ashamed of herself because my
child doesn't know anything more now than he did a year ago. I was just
trying to help her be a better teacher. What an ingrate!
I'll tell you what's
wrong with the church. Too much tact! What the church needs is more people
like me who are not afraid to stand up for the
truth!
