GERTRUDE BAHN
Gertrude Bahn, a member of Southside since her baptism on May 13, 1999, died
from cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital on May 19th. She was
seventy years old. She had been hospitalized only a week earlier, but had
been ill for over a year. Her husband, Gunter, who was baptized at the same
time as Gertrude, survives her. She had come to this country from Germany
in 1960. The funeral was Monday at the Altstadt-Tyborski funeral home with
Monroe Hawley speaking. We will greatly miss Gertrude. Remember Gunter in
your prayers for his great loss.

Just to Have a
Friend Stand By
When
trouble comes your soul to try,
You love the
friend who just stands by.
Perhaps there’s
nothing he can do:
The task is
strictly up to you,
For there are
troubles all your own,
And paths the soul
must tread alone ---
Times when love
can’t smooth the road,
Nor friendship
lift the heavy load,
But just to feel
you have a friend
Who will stand by
unto the end,
Whose sympathy
through all endures,
Although there’s
nothing he can do,
It helps somehow
to pull you through.
And so with
fervent heart we cry;
“God bless the
friend who just stands by!”
