Southside Retreat – For several years Southside has had a retreat at Fallhall Glen over the Memorial Day weekend.  Since the Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp was planning a 50th year celebration at Fallhall Glen at that time this year, the retreat was cancelled.  However, the camp program has been postponed to the fall and there will be a Southside retreat this year May 27 – 30.  There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.  If you are interested in going, contact Wayne Alexander for specifics.  We anticipate another good retreat.

The Mother/Daughter Banquet last Friday topped 100 in attendance.  Our thanks to all those who helped to make it a success.

Address Change – Joaquin and Sarah Borges. Contact us for details.

Monroe Hawley will be the speaker at a retreat at the Nebraska Youth Camp next Monday and Tuesday.

No bulletin will be published next week.

Which Half of the Worm?

A young mother tried in vain to get her spoiled son to eat his meal.  As he repeatedly refused to eat what she had prepared, she asked him what he would like to eat.  Trying to be as difficult as he could the boy replied, “I want a worm to eat!”  The mother had read in the psychology book that children should be given just what they want, so she instructed the father to go to the garden and find a worm.  The father did, but the son was still dissatisfied.  He complained that he wanted the worm to be cooked.  So his mother cooked the worm and set it on the table, but again it was the same old story of refusal.  Now what?  The boy said he want his father to eat half the worm first!

Still believing in the idea that the child should have his way, the father reluctantly ate half of the worm.  But no sooner had this been done than the boy let out a tremendous howl of dissatisfaction.  “Daddy ate the half I wanted!”

We’ve gotten lots of good laughs from this story.  When somebody in the family is just trying to be difficult to please, we ask, “Now, just which half of the worm do YOU want?”                                                                                                   __Selected
