The Bulletin Board

Baptized – Jennifer Giemza was baptized by her father, John, after the Wednesday study group last week.  We are so thankful for her decision, and pray that God may richly bless her in His service.

Joint Worship and Congregational Meeting Sunday – Sunday will be a special day for Southside since we will have only one morning worship service.  A couple of times a year we like to all get together in a united worship service, even though it poses a space problem.  A sandwich lunch and congregational meeting will follow.  Please read the schedule below carefully.

(1) There will be only one Sunday morning worship at 11:00 a.m.

(2) Bible classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a fellowship period before worship.

(3) We will have a children’s worship in the basement during the worship hour.

(4) After worship we will have a sandwich lunch at about 12:30 p.m.

(5) The congregational meeting will follow the meal at about 1:30 p.m.

(6) There will be no Sunday evening worship at 6:00 as is usually the case.

The Sick – Elfriede Wandsnider, who recently had surgery, is scheduled for additional surgery on April 4th.

Men’s Breakfast – Our annual area-wide men’s breakfast will be Saturday, March 12th, at 8:30 a.m.  As we anticipate an attendance of over 100, we would like to encourage all of our Southside men and boys to sign up on the men’s bulletin board in advance.  Our speaker will be Dale Walker who preaches for the Fond du Lac congregation.

Mark your calendar for the Southside Youth Rally, March 18-20.  We will be needing help with food, lodging, and adult participation plus that of our young people.  Daryl Miller is in charge of the program

The next Christian Workers’ Meeting will be Tuesday, March 15th at 9:00 a.m.  The theme will be the Psalms and the speakers will be Roy Ratcliff of Madison and Mike Casey of Oconomowoc.  The attendees come from several congregations and the meeting is open to all.

On Placing Membership

Recently six families from the Oconomowoc congregation, which has disbanded, formally identified themselves with the Southside Church.  We welcome them into our spiritual family at Southside.  We want to strongly encourage others who have come here from sister congregations and who wish to be a part of Southside to do likewise.  Since we have many visitors, we as elders who are the spiritual shepherds, need to know those who are a part of the flock, and in turn to help them become involved in the congregation.  If you fall in this category, please talk with one of the elders – Wayne Alexander, Al Gray, Monroe Hawley, Bruce Williams, or Rodney Windell.                                                                                                      __The Elders

Making a Difference

Every morning an old man walked down the beach picking up starfish that had washed up in the night.  Slowly, carefully, one by one, he threw then back into the ocean, beyond the breakers.

One day a young man walked up to him and asked, “Old man, why do you throw these starfish back day after day?  There are thousands of them and you’ll never make a difference.”  The old man picked up a starfish, threw it back into the ocean, and said, “It makes a difference to this one.”

The lesson: Each and everything we do makes a difference.  We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can change a part of the world.   __Selected
