Vol. 47, No. 49                        SOUTHSIDE ORACLE                    February 18, 2005

Welcome, Oconomowoc Members

In January the congregation in Oconomowoc disbanded because the preacher there, Mike Casey, had moved to Missouri and the members felt it expedient to become part of other area congregations.  After considering several alternatives, the majority of the church decided to cast their lot with Southside.  Accordingly, those who made this decision were introduced to our congregation at the morning worship time last Sunday.  We welcome them all and encourage our members to get to know them.  We believe that they will be a valuable and active part of our church family.  Here is the information about the families including the children.  Those who have an asterisk are members:

Benson, Tony* and Magdeline*.

Benson, Jason* and Leslie*.

Koepke, Ron* and Jennifer*.

Nowlin, Tom* and Judy*.

Small, Mark and Denise*, Magdeline.

Walker, Timm and Michelle*

(Please Contact Us for their addresses or phone numbers.)

Bobby Valentine will speak next week at the annual Abilene Christian University Bible lectureship in Abilene, TX and will be gone on Sunday.

Did you know that Southside’s membership currently includes people from thirty-five communities, eight counties, and two states?  This means that we have tremendous opportunities to share the gospel, but it also underscores the fact that we are geographically widely separated.  We have a number of members who live 25 to 40 miles from our place of worship while at the same time we have a large group that live relatively close.  To help address the problem of physical separation we have several midweek study groups in different locales that meet to provide fellowship in addition to Bible study.  If you are not currently in one of these groups, we urge you to get involved.  If you would be willing to host a new group, let Rocky Slaughter know of your interest as he is the deacon in charge of our group program.  We need additional study groups locations as well as those who would be willing to teach.
