The Bulletin Board

Baptized – Alex Van Handel and Toni Hanyard were baptized last week at the senior session of the Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp.  We ask God’s blessings on both of them.  A total of six of our young people obeyed the gospel during the four sessions at Fallhall Glen this summer.  Twelve from Southside have been baptized so far this year.

New Arrival – Congratulations to Joaquin and Sarah Borges on the birth of Joaquin Angelo, Jr., on August 10th.  The baby and parents were able to be with us Sunday for worship.

Elders’ Forum – Every fifth Sunday evening we have an elders’ forum in which the elders address questions that have been asked.  On August 29th the elders will respond to a question about suicide. They will also explain their role as shepherds to help the congregation understand how they function.

Sunday Speakers – Monroe Hawley will be preaching Sunday morning and Wayne Alexander will bring the lesson in the evening.

Picnic - The inter-congregational picnic at Estabrook Park last Saturday was very well attended by our families as well as sister congregations.  Though we don’t have any official count on attendees, there were several hundred from at least eight churches represented.

A listing of names and addresses for a new attendance directory is now posted on the wall across from the office.  Check your information for accuracy.

Tween Program – We have a large number of pre-teens that we call “Tweens.”  Many of them attended the recently concluded camping sessions at Fallhall Glen.  Last Sunday at the time of our Praise and Palate program the tweens reenacted some of the things that they learned during their sessions.  We sang songs they learned at camp, scriptures praising God were read, and afterwards food was served camp-style.  The tweens posted banners they had made.  All in all it was a wonderful service for the eighty of us who were present.  The Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp is not a part of our congregation, but for the entire existence of the church we have had a close relationship with it.  Hundreds of our youth have attended and dozens have obeyed the gospel at Fallhall Glen.  Two of our members, Tim Shilts and Bobby Valentine, are on the camp board and many have served on staff.  Our members have given generously through our annual camp auction and in many other ways.  The bottom line is that many young lives continue to be changed through W.C.Y.C.

A large number of our families are camping together this weekend at Bluemound State Park and will not be with us for Sunday morning worship.

Elder Search – Our elders wish to add an elder or elders to our eldership.  The search will begin this fall and in the meantime our members are asked to consider those that they feel may be biblically qualified to fulfill the role.  Your prayers are requested.

Family Bible Day will be Saturday, September 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Danny Giombi is directing the program and needs teachers, actors and other helpers.  If you would like to help, see Danny.

About Babies and Small Children – We encourage parents to bring the small children to worship.  We had one five days old last Sunday!  To aid parents we have a nursery for children under two in room 2, adjacent to the foyer.  We also have a training room at the rear of the auditorium that is available to parents who need to take their children out of the auditorium when they disturb other worshipers.  We encourage the use of both the nursery and the training room.
