Parent to Parent Ministry

Parent to Parent Ministry is seminar held by the Southside families to help parents be  better parents. We believe the greatest prevention tool ever invented to protect our children from today's Toxic Culture is an informed, trained, & motivated parent. This program began in 1988, has reached over 2 million parents worldwide, & is currently implemented in over 2,500 communities.

Parent To Parent 2000 is the latest update to our critically acclaimed Parent To Parent series. It is an 8-session video-based program that helps parents deal with their children on the challenging issues facing adolescents today: violence, drugs, sex & character development.

Parent to Parent 2000 represents an effective and proven method of teaching parents how to deal with the many challenges that face children today. These programs are designed so that parents can communicate with each other and learn about these critical topics in a small group setting--facilitated by schools, other organizations, and especially by parents, to parents.

We do need at least 4-5 couples to create to needed group dynamics to offer this class so please contact us so that we can schedule a class. Other wise, check back to find out when a scheduled session will be offered.

THEMES OF PARENT TO PARENT 2000

Today’s Toxic Culture Daily our kids are exposed to messages in music, media, internet, & movies that promote violence as fun, & a lack of accountability. Parents must be prepared to monitor their child’s exposure to this culture.

Put Yourself in the Way Parenting must be proactive by getting involved in your child’s life & knowing their friends, interests, habits, & feelings. This session introduces an outline for the prevention process & provides an early warning system to parents.

Awareness is Your Best Friend This session outlines significant, observable, lifestyle indicators which would signal positive or negative changes and serve as warnings for upcoming problems.

Remember the Difference This session focuses attention on three character traits which must be developed in the early teen years. It trains the parent to use the child’s drive for independence as a vehicle for developing these traits.

Expect & Inspect It is legitimate to have high expectations for your kids & insist they be drug free, responsible & respectful. It is also OK to supervise; we show love through inspection. This session trains parents how to communicate a family belief system clearly as well as turn unfulfilled expectations into an opportunity rather than a problem.

Never Cry Alone We sometimes spare our children the pain of life & insulate them from life’s everyday stress. Real families have real concerns about health, finances, each other’s well being. Genuinely sharing the bad times as well as the good will help them deal with these feelings rather than mask them through the use of alcohol or drugs.

Seven Parent Traps Another product of the “Toxic Culture” is that it sends messages which can prevent a child from becoming a productive, responsible adult. This session explores Seven Traps which parents must help their children avoid.

Building a Family Vision This session is a planning model that can help organize a game plan for raising your child. By developing a Vision-Strategies-Project-Tactics outline, parents can work with their children to help them reach their goals and dreams.
