5th
Wednesday Combined Bible Study-
Every 5th Wednesday night, instead of having the regularly scheduled
midweek studies, everyone comes to the church building for a combined
study / worship times. Bible classes are provided for preteens. These
are usually lead by our Shepherds.
Christian Workers’
Meeting-
Every 3rd Tuesday in the morning from Oct-May the area
preachers & anyone else interested come to Southside for a Bible
study. This usually starts at 9 AM & ends by everyone going to lunch
together. The topics are set by the coordinators who volunteer each
May to do it for the following year.
Current coordinators
are Bobby Valentine (Milwaukee, WI) & Steve Shaner (Naperville, IL).
Congregational
Meetings
- Three times a
year, following the 2nd morning worship service we have a
meeting for the congregation to allow the deacons and ministry leaders
to report on activities and make any needs known.
Elders and
Deacon's Meetings
– On the 2nd
Sunday, in the afternoon the elder’s meet with the deacons. On
alternating months these are for all the deacons to talk about general
plans or for 3 or 4 of the deacons to give personal reports to the
elders.
Elder's Forums
- Three
times a year on Sunday evening, we have a time lead by the elders to
lead a discussion of relevant current topic. These topics are the
result of input from the congregation. If you have a topic you would
like discussed,
please contact one of our elders.
Ladies Bible Class-
Every Thursday morning, from 10-11 a Ladies' Bible Class meets in the
fellowship hall. This is taught by Julia Hawley.
Ladies
Day Out- Every month our ladies get together to enjoy a variety of
fellowship activities. Please contact Jan Alexander or Pamella
Valentine for more information.
Mail-out
– Every spring and fall Southside sends 20,000 pieces of direct mail
to our community. Monroe Hawley is in charge of this.
Men's Breakfast -
Every
Tuesday a group of 5-7 men meet at Myer’s Restaurant (4200
S 76th St; Milwaukee, WI)
for breakfast and
a Bible study from 6-7(ish) AM. The preacher was leading these
studies.
Men's Study
- Every 1st
and 3rd Tuesday evening a men’s study is held at the church
building. Dan Giombi is the coordinator.
Midweek Bible
Studies –
During the week at
various people’s homes and at the church building Bible Studies are
held. The preacher usually leads the adult class at the church
building (at the church building is also a preteen and teen study).
Praise and Palate
– On
the 2nd Sun Evening of each month we have a song service &
a fellowship meal. Jim Nichols coordinates the meal & sets the menu.
Sunday Night Live
–This is an area wide youth worship held once a month during the
school year. Jim Coehoorn (the Minister of the Elkhorn Church of
Christ) is the coordinator.
Tween Activities
– Each
month activities (fellowship and service) are planned for young people
grades 5-6. John and Glenda Giemza coordinate this.
WCYC Youth Rally
– In
April, WCYC hosts a youth rally for all interested teens. This was
done for the 1st time last year to replace their annual
banquet that was being poorly attended by teens. Daryl Miller and Jim
Frost coordinated
it last year.
Wisconsin
Challenge -
A Publication for
the WI churches of Christ is published and distributed by Monroe
Hawley 3
times a year. It has updates and plans for each of the churches around
the state. |
