2 Tim. 1:15-18
How do you minister to a person who is suffering? Paul gives a few contrasting options: absence (abandoning, forgetting, being unconcerned with the sufferer) and presence (diligently ministering to the needs of the sufferer.) Some might think of Paul as invincible, but as strong as he was, he needed to be encouraged and refreshed in times of hardship, just like we all do.
A few important questions to consider in preparation for this lesson: will we respond to God’s call to share the gospel, even if it leads to hardship? And…will we—like Onesimus—diligently serve those who suffer for the gospel?
