Genesis 3:1-13

In her book Made to Crave, Lysa Terkeurst says: “never have I heard a preacher man talk about gluttony in church” (128). The same author writes elsewhere: “Food had become like a drug. And honestly, it’s a good drug choice for a Christian woman. Every church event I attended readily provided my drug out in the open with no hesitation or judgment” (37).

I include an excerpt from Lysa TerKeurst’s book Made to Crave, which I found very helpful in preparing for the message on Gluttony. Much of her book is applicable to things beyond a food struggle, so feel free to check out the excerpt. If interested, check out the reviews and consider purchasing the book: Made to Crave: Satisfying Your Deepest Desire with God, Not Food: TerKeurst, Lysa: 9780310293262: Amazon.com: Books.

Sunday’s message will speak about our relationship with food/drink, and how God ultimately made us to find complete fulfillment in seeking, finding, and feasting on Him. Jesus once spoke to a man “so full with his riches he [couldn’t] see how undernourished his soul is.” What would Jesus say about our souls?
