Scripture: Prov. 24:30-34
Sloth (or laziness) is one of seven deadly sins that seems to be on full display in Prov. 24:30-34.
We all go through seasons of dryness, whether it be work, school, or family, not to mention our relationship with God. But prolonged periods of dryness due to negligence and slothfulness can be dangerous. If we find ourselves in the cycle of seeing the need to grow, trying things out for a while to grow, stopping, starting again (and repeating the cycle), with little to no ongoing growth, Proverbs has some words of wisdom for us.
The aim of this sermon is for God to awaken our hearts and stir us up to keep growing, to be revived, to be restored, to be renewed. And it all starts with prayer. So, if you would, join me in praying for God to “Set us on Fire.”
