Scripture: James 1:19-25
The Bible contains many sermonic speeches: Moses speaks in Exodus, Peter, Stephen, and Paul preach in Acts, and some think the books of Hebrews and James are mostly sermonic.
Many preachers write out and read their sermons word-for-word from a manuscript. I typically don’t do that (although I think it’s a perfectly acceptable practice that has many pros!), but tomorrow I will read out a sermon word-for-word, and I think it’s one of the best (if not the best) sermon you’ll ever hear. I can say that because I am not the author of it.
