Responding To Insults – 01/24/21

Scripture: Judges 12:1-7

Speaker:  Jeff Hill

Everyone has an opinion but not everybody has insight. It impacts how people live, how they speak to, and about, others and leads them on a life path of rebellion and ruin.
This is not Ephraim’s first act of rebellion to authority (Judges 7:22 – 8:3) but the outcome was entirely different.  The Ephraimites would have fared much better if they followed God’s wisdom
Proverbs 19:1-3 Better the poor whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.  2 Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way! 3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord.
Jephthah had won a victory over an external enemy.  Now, unfortunately, an internal enemy threatens the cohesiveness of the tribes due to selfish folly.
Are your responses to insults motivated by wisdom or folly?  Are your responses to further your agenda or God’s?
