Gideon, at the beginning of his story, was distressed yet is transformed into a deliverer. Gideon rightly declines Israel’s desire to make him their king; he lives as though he is not only a king but also a priest according to his own making. We are always challenged to identify what provides enjoyable life with the giver of life. What caused Gideon to stumble? What are you doing to stay balanced?
