Scripture: Joshua 3:9-17
Speaker: Jeff Hill
Do you hate to wait? What happens inside you when you have to wait? How does your impatience bubble out and pour over others? Is one of your reactions to blame the other person for your behavior and attitude? “Well you made me…” Isn’t it frustrating to be so control by the actions of others? We give them our peace.
Flip the script. How do you feel when someone bubbles over on you when you are doing what you are supposed to but it is just not on the other person’s timeline? Do you consider their behavior uncalled for or even unjust?
Now read Genesis 15 and Joshua chapters 1 through 3. Abraham receives a promise and asks when he will receive it’s fulfillment. What is the answer? How much time passed between the promise given and the promise fulfilled? Would you be satisfied with this answer? Why does it take so long? What do we learn in Genesis 15 about the character of the people who will soon loose their land? What do they think about the community eyeing their territory? What needed to be the character of the people who were receiving the promise?
